Hemerdon Tailings Dam

At Hemerdon Mine Saxton drilling were contracted to construct the foundation of the secondary mine waste facilty, which is crucial for the mining operations. The project involved pressure grouting the foundations of the secondary tailings dam, with the aim of significantly reducing the permeability of the rock beneath the dam itself. Lugeons tests were carried out to confirm the effectiveness of the pressure grouting on reducing the bedrock permeability and also to calculate the anticipated grout consumption locally within the site.
